Orcas start NWAC North basketball league season. 

The Men and Women's teams got underway on Wed., Jan. 8th against Peninsula College. 

Whatcom struggled thru the non-league season at the end of 2024.   The Men's team was 3-12 in preseason, while the Women's team was 5-8. 

The Orcas though are excited about the league season.  Whatcom is fighting for the opportunity to move into the post season.   In basketball, the top four teams make the playoffs.

Both teams will be battling with the rest of the North region.  

 

The women's team fell behind #3 ranked Peninsula early on lopsided contest for the Pirates.  Summer Hullinger had 14 points for the Orcas.  Madi Cooper had 13 for Whatcom as well. 

The Orcas will travel to play Shoreline Community College on Saturday.  The Dolphins (2-12) fell to Skagit Valley on Wednesday, 71-40.
