Orcas to Host 3rd Orca Pickleball Tournament in June 2025.
In partnership with the Bellingham Pickleball Club, Orca Athletics will host its biggest fundraiser of the year. The tournament helps provide funding to our five athletic teams.
The Orcas are hosting the Orca Pickleball Spring Classic from June 6th-8th, 2025 on WCC's beautiful campus. We had over 300 participants this last year, and we hope to continue to watch it grow!
We aim to create a tournament connecting people in Whatcom County and beyond. The tournament has been important because it helps to impact our student athletes with the funds directly.
The funds raised help provide:
- Student athlete scholarships
- Larger capital projects for athletics, such as new equipment, gym scoreboard, and transportation improvements.
- Allocations to teams to support equipment purchases, team gear purchases, and coaching stipends.
- Recruitment budgets for head coaches.
The event helps to provide an accessible and equitable opportunity for WCC students, WCC employees, and community members to participate in a formally organized tournament.
Each day we will have 4 total brackets. Friday will be all men's double with the following brackets: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4+. Saturday will be co-ed/mixed 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4+. Sunday will be women's doubles with the following brackets: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4+. Brackets will have 8 or 16 teams per bracket.
We are hoping for great weather. If it rains, we will be using the WCC Pavilion and the Armory here in Bellingham.
