Whatcom Volleyball Ready for Fall 2025
Whatcom CC Volleyball poised for a great season with a fantastic recruiting class and core returners.
Whatcom Volleyball Announces 2025 Recruiting Class
Whatcom Community College Volleyball is proud to introduce its 2025 recruiting class, a talented and competitive group of student-athletes ready to bring skill, versatility, and a winning mentality to Orca Volleyball. This year's class features a dynamic mix of players across all positions, each adding their own strengths to help build on the program's tradition of success.
Defensive Specialists
The backcourt will be strengthened by the additions of Kayleigh Collins and London Esparza. Collins, a standout from Concrete High School and Skagit Volleyball Club, is known for her speed and exceptional court vision. Esparza, hailing from East Valley High School in Yakima and competing with No Limits Volleyball Club, boasts a strong platform and the ability to keep plays alive with her defensive tenacity. Their presence will add depth and stability to the Orcas' serve-receive and defensive systems.
Setters
The setting position gains two high-energy playmakers from Hawaii. Jamie Gail Cabanas, a graduate of Maui High School and member of Maui Encore Volleyball Club, is a natural leader with contagious energy and a passion for team culture. Logan Camello, from Waipahu High School and Ka Ulukoa Volleyball Institute, is an all-around athlete with experience in multiple positions, giving the team a dynamic and versatile presence at setter. Their leadership and court awareness will help guide the offense efficiently.
Middle Blockers
Adding power and speed to the middle are Maddie Behrends and Arianna Stovall. Behrends, a 5'11" middle from Sehome High School and Apex NW Volleyball Club, brings quickness and smart decision-making at the net. Stovall, also standing at 5'11", comes from Sequim, Washington, and plays for Momentum One Volleyball Academy. She adds a strong offensive presence with her ability to terminate points efficiently. Both players will make an impact on both sides of the ball as anchors of the net defense and quick attackers.
Pin Hitters
The outside and right-side attack will be bolstered by Mia Farris, Teegan Curtis, and Madie Kerch.
Farris, a 5'9" outside hitter from Coupeville, Washington, is a well-rounded, multi-sport athlete who excelled in volleyball, basketball, and softball in high school. Her all-around ability allows her to contribute both offensively and defensively as a six-rotation player.
Joining her are Teegan Curtis, a towering 6'2" outside hitter from Mount Spokane High School, who brings a commanding presence at the net with her length, blocking, and heavy arm, and Madie Kerch, a 5'8" outside from Lakeridge High School in Oregon, who complements the group with her quickness, creative shot-making, and relentless defensive effort. Together, this pin trio adds balance, power, and competitive edge to the Orca offense.
With this talented and well-rounded class, the future of Orca Volleyball looks bright. Head Coach Cody Luthy expressed his excitement about the incoming group:
"I'm so excited to see this group coming together. There's a lot of diversity in their style of play, and they're all incredibly quick with great physicality. Above all, these athletes are proven culture creators who will continue to add to the tradition of success we've built here at Whatcom."
Welcome to the Orca family. GO ORCAS!
