Orcas Take Early Season League Win Over Everett, 94-88 (OT)
The Whatcom Community College Orcas men’s basketball team opened league play with a strong performance, defeating Everett 94–88 in overtime. The win moves the Orcas to 1–0 in league play and 4–10 overall.

Whatcom was efficient offensively, connecting on 48 percent of its field-goal attempts, while also putting together a collective defensive effort on the glass. The Orcas shared rebounding responsibilities, with Darius Williams (So.) leading the team with six rebounds. Williams also contributed 14 points while logging 41 minutes on the floor.
Elijah Andrews (So.) was the catalyst for the Orcas' offense, pouring in 34 points in just 21 minutes of action. Andrews knocked down five three-pointers and delivered in the game's most critical moments. With Whatcom holding a narrow 83–80 lead late in overtime, Andrews drilled a clutch three-point shot to extend the advantage. On the ensuing possession, he was fouled and calmly converted two free throws, helping swing momentum firmly in Whatcom's favor.
The Orcas sealed the victory at the free-throw line, making six consecutive free throws down the stretch to close out the overtime win. Corey Tita (Fr.) added a strong offensive contribution with 16 points, rounding out a balanced scoring effort for Whatcom.
Up next, the Orcas travel to Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington, on Saturday, where tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The men's game will be followed by the women's contest. Peninsula is coming off its own overtime victory, edging Shoreline Community College 84–82.
Whatcom returns home on Wednesday, January 14, hosting Olympic College at 5:00 p.m. in Bellingham.
