Orcas Defeat Clark College Penguins to Receive Quarterfinals Bid!
The Men's soccer team (North Region #2) defeated Clark College at Orca Field, 4-0 in its first round playoff game. The win gives them the opportunity to play the East Region #1 Spokane C.C. Sasquatch on Saturday, Nov. 8th in Spokane.
Sebastian Cruz-Gonzalez (Assist was given to Aaron Diaz) was able to deliver the first goal for the Orcas in the 41st minute vs. Clark College. That goal was enough to deliver the win for the Orcas, but Jordan Johnson was able to add to the final score, allowing Whatcom to move on to the quarterfinals. Johnson had three goals at the 48th minute, 55th minute, and the 57th minute in the second half. Aaron Diaz had a second assist during Jordan's second goal at 55 minutes.
Whatcom is now 12-2-4 on the season. The Orcas were 8-0-4 in the NWAC North Region. Peninsula College ended up winning the North Region with a 9-0-3 league record.
Whatcom will face Spokane with the winner moving on the NWAC Soccer Championships in Tukwila, WA. on Friday, Nov. 14th in the semifinals at 1:30 p.m.
