Bio
Lydia Batten began coaching at Whatcom in 2023 as a graduate assistant following her career as an athlete for the orcas volleyball team from the 2020-2022 seasons. This is now her second season coaching since moving to the second assistant role. Lydia coaches with an emphasis on leading, supporting, and evolving her athletes. She strives to be supportive on and off the court to foster leadership skills, collaboration, and confidence in each player. All of which are skills that will continue to serve them throughout their lives.
Lydia has been involved with coaching youth athletes in the community at Apex NW Volleyball Club for the past three years. During that time, she has head coached at the U14 to U18 levels. Outside of volleyball, Lydia is a full time student at Western Washington University, completing her Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology while working part time at a physical therapy clinic. In the future, she plans to pursue graduate school to earn her Doctorate in Physical Therapy to continue serving her community on a broader scale.
